Artist Statement

Displaying duality, symmetry, and strength, the Double Line has always been elementary to me, a sort of foundation. As is human expression. My own experience in this world has—more than anything—been visual, and so I'm driven to be visually articulate. My aesthetic is informed by my upbringing in a bicultural family that celebrated folk and world traditions, as well as my love for early- and mid- century photo history. I aim to produce work that is authentic, socially aware, and emotionally revealing.

These images represent two decades of work on five continents, and while I hope they give an accurate sampling, the galleries are far from exhaustive and meant only as introductions. I am deeply appreciative for my teachers, students, colleagues and friends who have helped and shaped my career. My special thanks to all my subjects and viewers. Be sure to follow my Instagram for my latest work and updates.

I have been published internationally by The Guardian and nationally by In These Times, as well as The Santa Fe New Mexican and others. My work has appeared in galleries in Manhattan and Brooklyn, Napa, CA, and Albuquerque, NM. Museums include currently The International Folk Art Museum and previously El Museo Cultural, both in Santa Fe, NM. My experience is in Journalism, Portraiture, Product, Wedding, and more. I received my BFA in Photography + Imaging from the Tisch School of Arts at NYU in New York City, and taught at the Oxbow School, Napa.
